2007 Lucien Le Moine Les Petits Monts Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru
Going big on this Wine Wednesday with one of my fave Burgundy producers. Dark cherries, small dark forest berries, some red currants, a hint of forest, pine, sapling, and mulch all on the nose. Tarter berries on the palate – more red cherries than black – with a hint of good sapling and forest floor. Fresh and tart. Happy Wine Wednesday!

2012 Julio Bastos Dona Maria Gran Reserva
Struttin’ into weekend LIKE A BOSS. Blackberries, dark plums, a hint of blueberries, vanilla, and mint on the nose with more jammy notes on the palate. Let’s go, weekend!
Alicante Bouschet (50%), Petit Verdot (20%), Syrah (20%), Touriga Nacional (10%)
2016 Pala i Fiori Cannonau di Sardegna
Still on an Italian kick for this Thirsty Thursday! Red and some black cherries, boysenberries, dark chocolate, preserved orange rind, and spice notes on the nose. Cherries, cranberries, and spiced fruit on the palate with nice tartness. Delish! Great value wine.
2014 La Spinetta “Il Nero di Casanova” Sangiovese
Rawr. It’s Wine Wednesday. And I hate my humans for dressing me up like a lion. Black cherries, dark plums, and cassis on the nose and palate. Loads of plum notes on this guy. Classic from a great producer.
2016 Decoy Zinfandel
Hiding from Monday. Ripe, crushed red fruit – raspberries, strawberries, cherries – on the nose with a hint of pie filling. Almost mixed berry jam notes on the palate with loads of cherries, strawberries, and cherries. Very soft and silky.

2016 Cave Yves Cuilleron “Les Vignes d’à Côté” Viognier
Sweeping elegantly into weekend with this lovely Viognier from one of my fave producers. Pear, apricot, lemon, apple, and whiffs of cotton (and even cat pee!) on the nose. Similar apple, pear, apricot, and cotton notes on the palate with lovely minerality.
2016 1849 Wine Company “Iris” Pinot Noir
Bringing some color to this Thirsty Thursday. This label has artwork by Saber, a legend in the graffiti art world, called “Tool of Dissent” – somewhat fitting for our times! Cola, Dr. Pepper, wood, pine forest floor, pine needles, red fruit, cinnamon, and cardamom on the nose. Sweet red berries and plums on the palate with cola nut (almost like soda), pine forest, a hint of brown spice, and vanilla. Rich, Cali-style Pinot!

2012 Hugel & Fils “Grossi Laüe” Pinot Noir
Stretching it out for hump day with this Alsatian Pinot. Raspberries, cherries, sweet fruit, and red flowers on the nose. Very aromatic on the palate with raspberries and tart red cherries. Mouthwatering, lingering acidity on the finish. If you love Pinot Noir, don’t sleep on Alsace. If you can find them, grab them, especially from a great producer like Hugel!
Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
As you can see, my Chewy plush has had a bit too much to drink. At least he picked something big and bold, Old Forester 1920! This is intense on the nose, with caramel, brown sugar, and just an obvious sweet nose. You’ll get burned bananas foster and almonds as well. Call me crazy, but I also smell the aroma of an old coffee can, like from Cafe du Monde.
Neat, this bourbon tastes of crème brûlée, caramel, caramel mousse, chocolate, and some cooked apples. I get char and nuts on the finish with hazelnut and walnut.
72% Corn, 18% Rye, 10% Malted Barley
I definitely suggest you put this in your cabinet!

2017 Montgomery Solaris
Happy Monday! Starting off this week with a more unusual wine – one from Wales! What’s more – it’s made from Solaris, a hybrid white wine varietal that’s mainly grown in Baden, Germany, but also in Wales. In case you’re wondering, its parent varietals are Merzling and GM 6493 (a crossing of Zarya Severa and Muscat Ottonel). Hints of SauvBlanc on the nose – green pepper, lemon – along with some more tropical notes of guava and pineapple. Similar on the palate with lots of tart, citrus acidity. Interesting and different!
