2017 Hartley Ostini Hitching Post Pinks Dry Rosé
I wouldn’t mind hitching a ride on the rosé train any time of the year. Candied strawberries and raspberries along with tart cherries on the nose. A bit thinner on the palate with similar notes, specifically white and red strawberries.
Valdiguie, Pinot Noir

2015 Domaine Douloufakis Dafnios Liatiko
So this is kinda cool stuff – a wine from Crete! My shibe friend here agrees and is pretty excited. Raspberries, black forest berries, mushrooms, leather, and gamey notes on the nose. Firm tannins on the palate with raspberry and black cherry notes with mushroom.
2014 Château Saint Jean Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu
Hehe. Hi there. Just throwing back some CdR on this fine day. Sweet black cherries, raspberries, blackberries, peppered fruit, and dusty earth notes on the nose. More cherries, raspberries, and blackberries on the palate with pepper, dry leather, and earth. Rustic, solid weeknight bistro wine.

Laphroaig 10 Year
On this boozeday Tuesday, I’m knocking back some single malt because that is how I do, my friends. PEAT on the nose along with charcoal, wet (almost decaying) forest, iodine, salt, seaweed, and wood. Powdered salt over smoke and charcoal on the palate with wood, vanilla, and a hint of oatmeal. This is classic, peaty single malt. Smoke and salt are the main notes. Quite an awesome dram if you ask me. You’re welcome.
2017 Château Haut Sarthes Bergerac Rosé
Feeling rosé today with these flowers. Perfumed nose of strawberries, raspberries, and cherries. Similar notes on the palate with a hint of fruit leather. Nice stuff at the price.
Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), Merlot (30%), Cabernet France (30%)
2016 Château Mezain Blanc
Resting my eyes and my soul with this white Bordeaux. Very grassy on the nose with green apple, pear, lemon, and green pepper notes. Similar notes on the palate. This isn’t too exciting, but it isn’t bad as something to cook with and have a glass or two yourself while you cook!
2015 Cave Yves Cuilleron Saint-Joseph “Les Pierres Sèches”
Feeling French today with this Rhône juice. Ripe red and purple fruit, plums, smoky blackberries, violets, and a hint of pepper on the nose. Ripe dark plums on the palate with cassis jam, smoky blackberries, and pepper. Nice acidity on this guy.

2017 Division Villages “Les Petits Fers” Gamay Noir
Hehe – just hangin’ with my bud here and enjoying this Gamay from the Pacific Northwest! Wild strawberries, raspberries, and lingonberry jam on the nose with sapling notes and a hint of dark bubblegum. Chewy, bubbly, gummy raspberries and strawberries on the palate with notes of Bissinger’s yumberry and pomegranate white tea gummies. Yum!
Nikka Whisky from the Barrel
Finally in the US. Here’s a great Japanese whisky – from my homeland(!) – which doesn’t disappoint.
The unique, squat bottle is symbolic, of course. My people leave nothing to chance. This is to symbolize that the amber liquid inside is, like the bottle, “a small lump of whisky” which is the slice of malt and grain whisky married together for this drink.
Rumors put about 100 different whiskies into this glass.
On the nose, you’ll smell orange peels, cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla, oak, tea leaves, some red fruit and young/treated leather. Like a gentleman’s room but with an added sweetness.
On the palate, you’ll get oak, vanilla, cinnamon, cherry, tea, brown spices, sweetness & oak.
2014 Weingut Ökonomierat Rebholz “Im Sonnenschein” Riesling Grosses Gewachs
Pretty psyched about this German Riesling! Slate, daffodils, honeysuckle, Meyer lemon, waxy white flowers, orange, and quince notes on the nose. Sophisticated and structured on the palate with slate and Meyer lemon. Waxy mouthfeel gives way to clean acidity on the finish with a saltiness, like from an oyster shell. Very solid stuff – worth cellaring for 10+ years.
