2015 André et Michel Quénard Savoie Chignin Gamay
Why yes, you (ga)may join me for some vin! Bright red fruit, small berries, and some wood notes on the nose. Loads of small berries – tart small cherries, cranberries – with a hint of earth on the palate. Light. Refreshing. Fun. Great! Cheers!
La Farra Prosecco
Just having a little fun over here with this easy little Prosecco. Golden apples, lemons, some peaches and apricots, and daffodils on the nose. Apricot and peach notes on the palate with golden apples and lemon acidity. Cin cin!
Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon
Oof! You can tell from my mouth that this is a hot bourbon! On the nose I get aromas of cinnamon, toffee, and toast. When I take a sip neat, I taste a lot of hot brown spices – like cinnamon – even some cracked pepper. Rye notes join the toffee and wood.
This is hot neat and a bit softer with water.
2015 Casa de Saima Espumante
Enjoying the Christmas season with some sparkling Portuguese wine. Pretty straightforward nose of lemon, pear, fresh apple, golden wheat, and dried grass. Pear and lemon curd on the palate with a hint of almond. Pretty dry and crisp.
Maria Gomes, Bical, Chardonnay
2017 Peter Zemmer Pinot Grigio Alto Adige
Rawr. Gettin’ fierce with this Pinot Greege from Italia. Honeysuckle, jasmine flowers, apples, and lemon notes on the nose. Green apple, jasmine, and lemon on the palate.
Alto Adige, ITALY
2015 Herdade da Malhadinha Nova “Monte de Peceguina”
Hey! Let me out! I gotta go enjoy this Portuguese juice where I can’t be disturbed. Black plums and blackberries on the nose and palate with a bit of vanilla. Simple and straightforward but nice nonetheless.
Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez
2017 Cloudveil Vineyards Rosé
Heh. Chillin’ outside with a rosé on paw. Red apple, blood orange, red berries, and salted watermelon on the nose palate. I always love me some Oregon wines!
2014 Viña Tarapacá “Tarapacá” Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon
A little Chilean Cab never fails to brighten the season. Young tobacco, ripe cassis, boysenberries, blackberries, shiitake mushrooms, and eucalyptus on the nose. Blackberries and red and black currants on the palate with leather, cigar wrapping, and clove notes.
Maipo Valley, CHILE
Jim Beam Repeal Batch
I have a confession. I’m not a big Jim Beam dog. It just isn’t my style. However, this special edition, Repeal Batch from Jim Beam is worth barking about.
This special bourbon is non-chill filtered and is made to honor the 85th anniversary of the Repeal of Prohibition.
What is great about this and sets it apart from the regular JIM is the non-chill filtering – keeping in all those tasty oils really improves the final product!
On the nose, you get notes of corn, breakfast cereal, oak, brown spice like clove and cinnamon, and some grilled fruit like cherries.
The taste is oaky, vanilla, smoky fruit, brown spice, breakfast cereal, and toffee.
This bourbon is great on its own and also with a cube. What else is nice? It is only about $18!
Get celebrating, friends!

2013 Weingut Friedrich Becker Rechtenbacher Spätburgunder
German Pinot puts me in an introspective mood. Red and some dark cherries, dark forest floor, cinnamon, brown spices, and leather on the nose. More red and black cherries on the palate with some cola nut, dark spices, and leather. Nice acidity on this guy.
