Le Bout du Monde, L’Echappée Belle Rosé 2018
Edouard Lafitte is a peer of Jean-Francois Nicq of Estezargues and Eric Pfifferling of Domaine l’Anglore. These winemakers are known for working with carbonic maceration, and we find Edouard’s wines to be consistently some of the best of this style in southern France. Le Bout du Monde is located in a new burgeoning hotspot of natural winemakers centered around the tiny village of la Tour de France (not to be confused with the bicycle race, le Tour de France). There are about a dozen young natural winemakers working in this area, but Edouard was one of the first to arrive, back in 1995. This rosé is delicate and playful with notes of peach, strawberry and passion fruit on the nose, with a light guava finish, this blend of Syrah and Carignan is a perfect compliment to your Pride festivities. Crushable. $20
Chateau Barouillet, Splash! 2018
Vincent Alexis is an eighth-generation winemaker and a rising star in the natural wine scene. Joining his father in 2010, he started organic farming at Chateau Barouillet, and has since taken over head winemaking duties. The estate makes a large range of wines from the wider region in all the local styles, but Splash is a recent addition, a pétillant-naturel (pet nat) wine made from Semillon. Notes of lemon and fresh apple on the nose, with flavors of white tea, lychee, and pear. Light, with only 9% alcohol, this sparkler is a great way to get (and keep) your Pride festivities going. Even more crushable. $25
Cellar Finca Parera, Penedès Fins Als Kullons 2018
One of the most exciting regions in Spain when it comes to natural wine has got to be the Penedès. I know that may sound a bit strange considering the amount of Cava being made, but this is actually part of the reason driving a group of young winemakers to do things differently. Ruben was born into a family of farmers but it wasn’t until he finished his viticultural and oenological studies that they started making wines of their own. We first met him at a tasting in 2013 and his wines were perfect…almost too perfect, if you know what I mean. This Sumoll, Garnatxa Blanca and Xarel-lo blend is no exception. Light and refreshing and perfect with a chill, this guzzler will have you putting on your dancing shoes in no time. Supremely crushable. $30
