2016 1849 Wine Company “Iris” Pinot Noir

Bringing some color to this Thirsty Thursday. This label has artwork by Saber, a legend in the graffiti art world, called “Tool of Dissent” – somewhat fitting for our times! Cola, Dr. Pepper, wood, pine forest floor, pine needles, red fruit, cinnamon, and cardamom on the nose. Sweet red berries and plums on the palate with cola nut (almost like soda), pine forest, a hint of brown spice, and vanilla. Rich, Cali-style Pinot!

2015 1849 Wine Company “Triumph” Red Blend

Going big and American for the 4th of July! And what better wine than this Sonoma red blend that is a blend of individually unique and distinct grapes that together form a whole that’s greater than the sum of its parts – the ultimate triumph of the American experiment … that we’re still working on. Blackberries, plums, chocolate, almost a hint of prune, Christmas spices, and fruitcake on the nose. VERY fruit-forward on the palate with blackberries, plums, cassis, sweet fruit, and vanilla. Big. Full. Happy Independence Day!

🚨 Sonoma County is currently in a state of emergency after the Russian River rose 34 feet over two days, reaching 12 feet above flood stage. The damage to surrounding communities is extensive and our friends @paxwines facility also housing @jolielaidewines @jaimeemotleywines @raenwinery @marthastoumen in Sebastopol are among those affected. In addition to losses from flood damage, all activities at the winery and tasting room have been put on indefinite hold, we don’t have to tell you what that means for their businesses. Let’s help them out! We will be donating 20% of all Sonoma wine sales this month to the @gofundme that @patrickwine set up to help his friends. You drink, we donate. You can also donate directly by finding the link in @patrickwine bio. 🙏🍷❤️ #drinkwine #youdrinkwedonate #sonoma #sonomacounty #russianriver #russianrivervalley #floodhelp #friendsinneed #savethewine #wineislove #winoforever (at Dandelion Wine)

2015 Cattleya “Alma de Cattleya” Chardonnay

This is a fantastic Chardonnay from the girlboss winemaker at Pahlmeyer and this is one of her entry-level pricepoint wines. Floral nose of white and yellow daffodils, Meyer lemon, a hint of lime and wet stone. Meyer lemon and lime on the attack on the palate with some lemon crème mid-palate. Finishes with nice acidity and wet stone. Excellent stuff!

2014 Matanzas Creek Winery Chardonnay

Checking out this lovely Cali Chard. Meyer lemon, apple, and peach on the nose along with toasted marshmallows, vanilla, and oak aromas. Pretty yummy on the palate with Meyer lemon, apple, toasted oak, roasted marshmallow, and hints of orange blossom.
